Forgotten Lincoln History — Hanging of 38 Sioux

Lincoln and the Hanging of 38 Sioux, 1862 http://bit.ly/4RwVL

I suppose it is a sin against national sanity to suggest an imperfection in a President as revered as Lincoln. Nevertheless, here is an instance of capital punishment on a broad scale. A forgotten failure. We err in idealizing anyone. We are all culpable, even when we do not know what we do.

The daily MSM rant wants to simplify things down to a blame game. The reality is we are all to blame. And we are all endowed with the potential to be admirable. If we saw things that way, we would have less hyperbole and, possibly, fewer wholesale hangings.
