Awareness Of Sin Is The Beginning Of Wisdom

PSALMS 144:14

That our oxen may be strong to labor; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.

LUKE 18:13

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

For if I make you sorry, who then makes me glad, but the same who is made sorry by me?

The Psalmist is uttering a prayer about normal life: that the heavy equipment work, that crime be reduced and that the streets be free of strife.

The publican is standing alone before God and crying for mercy because he knows that any easy answer to the Psalmist’s prayer is an illusion.

Paul is apologizing and saying he needs lateral forgiveness.

We are talking about ultimate overcoming, but this impacts our daily lives. We cannot expect to change everything but there are little changes that will grow as we obey and live our lives by listening to Jesus and relying upon the friendly Abba-light within.

Sin is a hard word but it is simply three letters that mean

from the reality

that Jesus embodies

and passes

directly to all

who are willing

to look within

and find Abba within.

Exaltation needs no lofty height
It wells up from a place that’s deep within
When Abba gives the gracious gift of sight
In any situation we are in
