Can a lonely blog cut ice with a campaign that is increasingly moving into insular mode? Not as insular as the norm, mind you, but insular to efforts to have a say from a lonely perch.
Nonetheless, words are important. They are said to have existed simultaneously with the deity. So here goes.
Tim Kaine is given high enough marks by people who know him, but almost universally the same people say this popular Virginian should not move.
Kaine’s extraction from Virginia would have such a negative political effect that it would be viewed as a negative action and a political decision lacking in serious smarts.
A second reason is that Kaine would be a fine veep but is not successor material. This is more debatable than the first point.
Do not befoul Virginia politics with a Kaine choice.
Aside from a few encounters on the record, I have no idea whether Barack Obama has communed with the irascible Brian Schweitzer, whether the men disliked each other on the spot, or what. I do know that Brian would probably rattle the cages of Caroline Kennedy and Eric Holder. I do know Brian is not on any pundit’s short list.
But my strong counsel is to consider Schweitzer over Kaine. You can win VA without Kaine as veep. You can win Montana and two or three other Western states with Schweitzer holding down the slot
Type Brian Schweitzer into the Blog Search for this site and you will find more reasons. I have even managed to get my Western Strategy thoughts over on Huff Post.
The main reason I am doing this post is on the off chance that it will float beneath the noses of the established folk in the campaign.
This campaign is already DIRTY. John McCain has made a pact with the very jaws of hell and the jaws are working overtime to refine Republican Big Lie tricks that have worked for twenty years to prevent this country from making the progress it needs to overcome deep structural flaws which are creating more than two societies (Kerner) but the possibility of a decline from being a democracy and a reputable leader among nations.
To combat this lethal force we need more than Barack’s high bar. We need a person who can bring a Mark Twain sensibility and a Will Rogers flair to the political arena and DISSECT what the Republicans are doing so that even an NRA junkie or an Appalachian racist will see the point.
This is the kind of mentality that has won Schweitzer an 80 percent popularity rating in RED Montana.
Schweitzer is an OUTSIDER who squares with Barack on the essentials and is independent enough to say he had to DECIDE on Obama. His choice of Obama was NOT automatic.
If Barack is to defeat the GOP juggernaut, he will need the votes of those who DECIDED and whose choice was NOT automatic.
If anyone is paying attention, send me an email that says Amen. I do not do comments on this blog. Too many trolls.
